Christmas Cards

11/21/2007

Yes! Beginning Friday, they’ll start trickling in, these little pieces of love, stuffed in our mailboxes, sent by people who remember us fondly. Or not so fondly in the case of businesses who just want to make sure we remember them, LOL. I enjoy getting Christmas cards, becasue it causes me to take a moment and think about the ones I love.

Thanksgiving

11/20/2007

I guess it goes without saying that holidays are neat, and Thanksgiving is one of the neatest. I wrote a short history of the holiday, in response to those who are Politically Correct, but not historically accurate. Perhaps you might like to read it Thursday evening while you are considering addiction treatment for all that tryptophan in your system ;P

Sing it, baby

11/19/2007

Today, I had a choice. I could tell you about drug rehab, or I could look for something much more interesting, such as these singing horses. I considered briefly which I would rather hear about and chose the horses. You’ll need shockwave/flash to properly enjoy it, but it’s pretty funny. I just wish I could make them sing a song I know!

BackCountry Survival

11/16/2007

If you are interested in survivalist stuff, you’ll find lots of good info at Backcountry Survival. Someone has apparently put the entire FM 31-70 Basic Cold Weather Manual online. You’ll find supply lists (warning for the wimpy–no memory foam mattress allowed) as well as instructions on snow travel and nutrition and hydration. Don’t at the bottom is a link for more civilian info.

Holiday Decorations and hot glue

11/14/2007

Hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week, isn’t it? But it’s true, and then it will be Christmas, so it’s time to pull out the decorations. This year, I do need to replace the goodies on one of my decorative wreaths, because the baubles on it are cracking and peeling. Since I made it myself, that should be fairly painless. And why hot glue? It looks better on the wreath than duct tape would, you silly goose!

Thanks to Amy

11/13/2007

First things first, I’m tipping my hat to Amy for this little goodie. She found it and alerted us to its goodness, and saved me from having to discuss business performance management. Instead, we will talk about Picnik, a nifty little photo editor that you can use right in your browser. It’s fast and lightweight, and you can even use it for screenshots. It’s way slick, ya’ll.

Friends

11/07/2007

Today’s neat thing is friends. Tonight, I will see 6 of mine for the very first time. Tonight, we’ll be eating together for the first time. I’m getting on the first plane in just a few minutes, and I hope my flight is as smooth as the Mustang suspension system. I like smooth! I can’t wait to meet the friends I love already.

Posting will be light to non-existent until next week.

Bathrooms

11/05/2007

Do you want to know what’s neat today? Sure you do, that’s why you are here. Bathrooms are neat. They are especially neat if they have working sinks, including taps and drains. Which my second bathroom doesn’t currently have. But which I am totally expecting to be fixed while I am gone. Because nine people using one set of double sinks?? Not neat at all. This waterfall tap is especially cool. Unfortunately, I am sure my taps will be plain.

Jigsaw Puzzles

10/17/2007

Continuing our “fun for the family” theme, – – – oh did you not realize we had a theme? Me either, until I started to write this, and then looked at what I had said yesterday – – – today’s neat thing is jigsaw puzzles. You can get them suitable for all ages, and it’s something the whole family can work on while you *gasp* talk to each other. I have one on my dining room table right now, but they are at home on cheap card tables and expensive poker tables as well. And they are fairly cheap for the amount of entertainment they provide.

Games

10/09/2007

Here’s a neat thing for those of you with kids. It’s also pretty nifty for those of you who are maybe just young at heart. Kids games are fairly inexpensive, and teach skills like color recognition (for the younger set). Check out the Mahjong, with letters for little people and classic porcelain for those who already know their alphabet! Here’s hoping that’s you, LOL!

Bigger, blacker, better

10/01/2007

This neat thing is for you technology minded people. Let’s talk about the 5th Generation iPod. At a full 80GB, it will hold all your tunes, plus movies and more. The device allows for 20 hours of audio between charges, or you can watch 6 hours of video. Get price comparisons and product details and reviews at Shopping.com. They’ve gathered all the 411 in one place for your convenience.

Computer Store

08/24/2007

This neat thing will save you some money! TechPalooza is an internet store that specializes in computer products. They have hardware, software, peripherals, and accessories. (They also carry other consumer electronics–televisions, cameras, radios, and the like). They just turned a year old, so they are celebrating by offering free shipping. I did some comparison shopping there today, and they do have good prices, so be sure to give them a lookie-loo before you buy.

You may already be familiar with them as Technology Paradise, but if you aren’t, you’ll like their formula High quality + Affordable prices + Speedy shipping = Happy Customers. Check them out!
