Rock Tumblers

08/11/2007

or, how to make something from nothing. My Papa used to have one of these, and what happens inside one of them is just fascinating to me. I’m talking about rock tumblers, those little machines that just put dull jagged rocks into, and turn for a while and shiny smooth stones come out. It’s amazing, every time, and an easy hobby to get into.

Furniture Store

Saving money ranks right up there on the list of life’s major neatnesses, doesn’t it? And since home furnishings are big ticket items, that makes discount furniture stores high on the list as well. The fact that Boyles happens to be located near me only adds to it’s charm. Ya’ll enjoy, and if you shop in person, do drop by!

Radiator.com

Here’s a site that will be handy if you are having car problems. I know when we are having trouble, DH likes to try the local junkyards, and sometimes he’s successful, but often, he’s not. That’s where Radiator.com comes in. Say you know you need an Accord Radiator. You can get an original equipment quality part with a no hassle lifetime warranty. And you get lower prices, because there’s no middleman! You are ordering from the distributor instead of a retail store. Customers who are not expert mechanics will also appreciate the informative articles on radiators and cooling systems found on the site.

Mail Order

Yes, mail order. I think mail order is an incredibly neat thing. Think about it, you can have just about anything you want or need delivered right to your door and you never have to leave home. From baby formula at one end of the spectrum to tranquility diapers at the other, and all the wild and wacky things you use in between, your mail box can become a treasure box.

MP3 Guide

The radio in my van has developed a split personality, so DH has asked me for an MP3 player. I’m thinking Christmas, so I have a bit of time to catch a good sale. In the meantime, I found this cool MP3 player guide. There are about a bazillion models of players listed here, and you can click through to read reviews which cover things like battery life expectancy as well as product features. You can use this to compare models in your price range, which is just what I plan to do!

Libertarian Quotes

08/10/2007

There is a lot of food for thought here. Libertarian Quotes is a great place to spend a few minutes. I’m not surprised to see that the site is put together by the LP of Boulder County, Colorado. The Libertarian Party is pretty big in CO. Libertarian or not, these are things we need to think about.

Goth Scene

08/09/2007

This neat this is for my single readers. In fact, it’s for my single readers who are in to all things Goth. It’s a website where you can hook up with other goth singles. The site is free, and it seems to be an easy way to meet folks with similar interests.

Speaking of interests, I’m not exactly sure how one qualifies to be”goth”. I’ve known several people who described themselves that way, but the only thing they had in common was a penchant for black clothing. I like black clothing, too, but I don’t consider myself goth. It must be like so many of the adjectives we as a society use: if you are it, then you recognize it, right? And if goth dating is your thing, now you know where to go.

The Forest of Rhetoric

Rhetoric is the study of effective speaking and writing. And the art of persuasion. And many other things. You can find out more about it at Silva Rhetoricae. Scroll down the middle section to learn how the author intended the site to be used and how he laid it out. You can get a quick overview, or spend substantially more time to get a thorough understanding.

Tent Bunk Beds

08/07/2007

oq001xxx.jpg Aren’t these the neatest bunk beds? I can’t imagine there’s a kid in the world who wouldn’t like them! My oldest daughter used to use the frame of the top bunk to make her won tent. She’d slip sheets and blankets between the top mattress and it’s support to close herself in. Fun times. Even when she was 16 and did it, I still saw the 7 year old in her when she slithered out.

Northern Lights

08/06/2007

Here is a delightful site on the Aurora Bore Aurora Bora Aurora Bore Northern Lights. Do not miss the opportunity to view the slide show. The site is in frames, so I can only give you the one link, but don’t miss the slideshow (link in the header) or the articles under “What are northern lights?”

MotorSports

I was at a site today that you may enjoy. It’s a little manly, but what the heck. At Powersportstv.com, you can get a quote on all sorts of fun vehicles, from dirt bikes to snowmobiles. That not the best part though! You can also watch videos, look at photos and even download free wallpapers! They have forums, too, where you can discuss all manner of things from repair and maintenance to dealers. You can read without registering. There are even for sale listings. If you like motor sports, you will like this site, guaranteed.

North Carolina

08/03/2007

I hinted not too long ago that I thought my state was pretty neat. In fact, I have a whole blog about North Carolina. The only thing I don’t like about calling North Carolina home is all the durnfurners (just read it like it sounds, ya’ll). So, I am still recommending this state as a great place to live. In fact, I am even going to suggest you check out the Beaufort NC real estate. Just stay in that area, unless I know you personally, LOL!
